Resorts on Koh Raya Islands:
The Racha

The Racha is a deluxe island hideaway set on an idyllic, pristine beach on Raya Island, only 18 kilometres south of Phuket. From Phuket's Chalong Bay it takes just 25 minutes by speed boat to the reach Racha Island, which is known for its natural beauty and has long been famous for its excellent corals and marine life.

Sanctuary Resorts and the management at The Racha strive to be leaders in environmental conservation. The resort will provide free of charge disposal of non-organic waste for all residents on the island; who until recently had no other solution than just throwing this away on the island. The resort treats its waste water for recycling in the garden and energy conservation efforts are part of the design and resort's philosophy.

The Racha provides accommodation in 69 spacious villas in 4 different room types. The superior villas are laid out in pairs of two, in semi-detached pavilions and are all luxuriously appointed. They are contemporary designed with private terraces and spacious bathrooms; offering both indoor and outdoor shower pleasure. Some rooms feature a connecting door. The deluxe villas are privately located and some boast amongst the best sea views on the island. They offer a large living area and spacious private terraces. Each deluxe villa is superbly designed and features a luxurious bathroom and a rain-shower in the outside court yard.

The two deluxe villas with pool at The Racha are equal to the deluxe villas regarding the lay-out and furnishing, but feature a private swimming pool and are located within the prime area of the resort. The large and luxurious pool villas feature their own infinity-edge swimming pools overlooking the Andaman Sea, a large sundeck and an open-air relaxation pavilion. All pool villas occupy the prime sites within the resort..

All villas at The Racha are luxuriously appointed with all modern conveniences, including DVD entertainment sets, broadband internet access, minibar with coffee and tea making facilities, electronic safety box, individual air condition, IDD telephone and satellite TV. All villas have separate shower and bathtub and an outside rain shower in the court yard.

The Racha features a selection of food and beverage concepts with a kitchen team headed by an experienced Chef. The Earth Cafe offers a wide selection of popular international and Thai dishes in airconditoned comfort while the Fire Grill at the elevated pool deck provides Pizza and Pasta during the day. The resort also features the Ice Bar, a fun place for relaxing cocktails, pre-dinner drinks or an after dinner night cap. Live-entertainment is provided six nights a week.

The Racha's large Sanctuary Garden Spa offers a wide range of holistic treatments and programs, from scrubs and facials to specialist massages. The treatment rooms include herbal steam bath and sauna and the spa has a reflexology center, beauty salon and a multi-purpose room for meditation and yoga.

The Racha features non-motorized watersports only and encourages the many divers and other local residents to protect the environment too. A marine-research facility is planned as part of the resort enabling guests to learn more about environmental protection. The resort's pool is non-chemical and water is treated through Ozone.
